Job Title: Child Life Specialist

Job Summary

• The Child Life Specialist is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating psychosocial care for pediatric patients ranging from neonates to adolescents (birth through 17 years).
• This role focuses on supporting the emotional, social, developmental, and psychological well-being of patients and their families across inpatient and outpatient settings.
• The Child Life Specialist serves as a patient and family advocate and collaborates with the healthcare team to promote positive coping, reduce stress, and support optimal development during medical experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess the psychosocial and developmental needs of pediatric patients and their families.
• Plan, implement, and evaluate age-appropriate therapeutic and educational interventions that support social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development.
• Provide emotional support, preparation, and coping strategies for patients undergoing medical procedures or hospitalization.
• Facilitate therapeutic play, activities, and programs tailored to developmental stages and individual needs.
• Advocate patients and families to ensure their psychosocial needs are addressed within the healthcare environment.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to integrate psychosocial care into treatment plans.
• Support families through education, guidance, and emotional reassurance.
• Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

   

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in a healthcare setting.

Required Education

• Bachelor’s degree in child Life, Child Development, Psychology, Education, or another related health-focused field.

Required Certifications & Licensure

• Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS).
